Privacy Policy

SpotlightLA Sound FX is provided by Spotlight Entertainment LA Events, a California corporation (“we” or “us”). This policy covers the public app, optional private-iCloud synchronization, support communications, and the SpotlightLA Sound FX pages on SpotlightLA.com.
Information the app handles
SpotlightLA Sound FX stores Shows, boards, pad names, notes, settings, layouts, imported audio, recordings, source notes, website shortcuts, edit information, and recovery snapshots on the user’s device. The app does not require a separate SpotlightLA Sound FX account.
User-entered names, notes, filenames, recordings, or shortcuts may contain personal or confidential information. Users decide what to enter and what media to import. The app does not include third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Optional private iCloud synchronization
When enabled, SpotlightLA Sound FX uses Apple CloudKit to store information in the private iCloud database associated with the user’s Apple Account. Synced information may include Show, board, and pad names; notes; layouts; playback, cue, effect, and edit settings; timestamps; custom website shortcuts; audio display names, sizes, extensions, fingerprints, and file contents; random app-generated record and device identifiers; and a generic device category such as Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
The app does not place the user’s Apple ID, Apple Account email address, contacts, precise location, personalized device name, browsing history, Finder paths, or security bookmarks in SpotlightLA Sound FX sync records. Finder-referenced originals are not uploaded until the user chooses to copy them into SpotlightLA Sound FX. Private CloudKit records count against the user’s iCloud storage quota and are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. They are not available to other SpotlightLA Sound FX users and are not visible to us through Apple’s developer portal.
Sync may operate automatically according to the user’s setting. Offline changes may remain queued until connectivity and iCloud are available. Users can export Shows and use in-app controls to delete SpotlightLA Sound FX records from iCloud without deleting local Shows. Deleting, replacing, or resolving synced information may affect other devices using the same Apple Account.
We do not operate a separate server that receives synced Shows or audio. We may receive limited App Store, TestFlight, purchase, crash, and performance information from Apple according to the user’s Apple settings and Apple’s policies.
Sharing and third-party services
When a user deliberately shares or transfers a Show, the selected service—for example AirDrop, Messages, Mail, iCloud Drive, or another Files provider—handles that transfer under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive the Show unless the user separately sends it to us.
User-created website shortcuts open in the default browser. The destination site may receive normal web-request information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive the search or website activity.
Microphone, files, and photos
Microphone access is requested only when the user chooses to record a soundbite. File and photo access is used only for items the user selects or shares. Imported media is processed and stored locally and, if synchronization is enabled, eligible managed copies may also be stored in the user’s private iCloud database.
Support and website information
If a user contacts support, we receive the contact information, communication, attachments, and troubleshooting information the user supplies. Users should not send media, credentials, client information, or other sensitive material unless requested and authorized.
These webpages are hosted by Squarespace. Hosting and security can involve processing an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, referring page, date and time, and cookies or similar data needed to deliver and protect the site. We do not use these pages for cross-site behavioral advertising. If optional analytics, forms, embedded content, or marketing tools are enabled, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated first.
How information is used and disclosed
Information is used for app functionality, synchronization, support, security, debugging, purchase administration, legal compliance, and protection of rights. We do not use user media for advertising, profiling, or training artificial-intelligence models.
Information may be processed by Apple for App Store, TestFlight, CloudKit, diagnostics, purchases, and user-selected sharing; by Squarespace for website hosting and security; by a communications provider when the user contacts us; by professional advisers under confidentiality; or by authorities when legally required. It may be transferred in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of the app or related business assets, subject to applicable law and this policy.
Retention and deletion
Local content remains until the user deletes it, removes the app, or a system restore replaces device data. Synced records remain in the user’s private iCloud database until deleted through app controls, removed under Apple’s policies, or replaced through synchronization. Uninstalling the app normally removes that device’s local container but does not necessarily remove exported copies or private iCloud records.
Support communications and related diagnostic records are kept only as reasonably needed for support, security, legal rights, and legal obligations. Copies sent through AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files providers, or to another person remain under the recipient’s or service’s control.
Security and reliability
The app uses Apple platform storage and private CloudKit services, content fingerprints, and file validation designed to reduce unauthorized access, incomplete transfers, and corruption. No storage or transfer system is completely secure or guaranteed against failure or loss. Users should protect their devices and Apple Account and maintain independent copies of original media and important Shows.
Children
SpotlightLA Sound FX is a general-audience production tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent information directly to us may contact us for review and, where applicable, deletion.
Privacy choices and California rights
Users can choose whether to enable synchronization, export Shows, delete local content, and delete private CloudKit records using app controls. Device Settings control microphone, photos, files, iCloud, diagnostics, and cellular access.
Depending on applicable law, a person may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of information, and to limit certain uses or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we do not offer a sale/sharing opt-out link. We will not discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable right.
Because private CloudKit records are associated with the user’s Apple Account and are not visible to us through Apple’s developer portal, we generally cannot retrieve or identify a particular user’s synced media. Requests concerning information we possess may be sent to info@SpotlightLA.com or made by calling 323-571-4025. We may verify a request proportionately and respond as required by applicable law.
Scope and changes
This policy is written for the current United States launch plan. Nonwaivable privacy rights that apply where a user lives are not limited by this policy. We may update this policy as features, providers, or legal requirements change. A new effective date will identify revisions, and material changes will be presented as required by law.
